But what is a composite material?
A composite material (also called a composite material) is a material composed of two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties which, when combined, produce a material with different characteristics from the individual components. Individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure, differentiating composites from mixtures and solid solutions.
The advantage of using a composite material is mainly the effectiveness of the material itself, in fact, being tailored to the use that will be made of the component that will compose, is 100% suitable for that particular use.
The use of composite material allows to eliminate all those defects given by the intrinsic properties of the individual materials that could affect the use of the final product, also has the ability to add useful features to other aspects of the product that is going to compose.
In our case, for example, it allows to drastically lighten the components of the train interiors, leaving intact the ability to withstand shocks, creating particular benefits in terms of consumption and performance of the entire vehicle.
For this reason, composite materials are used in the most advanced industries of transport, such as rail, aviation and aerospace, where the search for performance is at the highest levels.
